Bulletin - September 2, 2018

A Word from Father Stokely

This Monday we celebrate Labor Day, "a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity and well-being of our country." As you know, this holiday also signals the end of summer.

I hope that the summer months have been enjoyable and restful for you. Here at Saint Elizabeth we are excited to welcome back our students to the parish school and elementary faith formation program.

We also look forward to seeing our parish ministries resume their regular meetings, which keeps our campus buzzing with activity. We pray for all our young parishioners who are returning to elementary school, high school and college for the Fall Semester as well.

A happy and blessed Labor Day to you and your family!

Fr. John Stokely

Middle School Faith Formation

It can be quite challenging when your middle-school child asks, “Why do I have to go to Mass?” How do you instill in our children an appreciation and enthusiasm for the Mass? They are surrounded by distractions: music fills their ear buds, while tweets and posts are constantly checked and updated. They have been conditioned to fill any void or silent moment with noise and stimulation.

Altaration: The Mystery of the Mass Revealed is a new five-part study on the Mass for 7th and 8th graders. The study features powerful cinematography, inspiring presenters and engaging workbook resources.

Altaration uses humor, stories and small group discussion to capture your teen's attention and instill in them a deep and lasting love for the Mass. The program will be held in the CLC on Monday evenings, 6:30-7:45 PM, October 15 thru November 19, For more info, contact the religious education office (646-6545).

Walking With Purpose

Through personal bible study and small group discussions, Walking With Purpose (WWP) helps to link women's everyday challenges with solutions given through Scripture and the teachings of the Catholic Church. This year, St. Elizabeth is offering two different courses:

Mondays, beginning October 1, at 7:00 PM – "Opening Your Heart" – a foundational bible study designed for women new to WWP as well as those with more bible study experience.

Wednesdays, beginning October 3, at 9:30 AM – "Keeping in Balance" – an exploration of biblical ways to manage life's pace and pressure while living with calm and steadiness.

To learn more, stop by the WWP Open House on Monday, September 24, 7:00-8:00 PM in the St. Matthew Room conference room. Are you ready to register now?
