Lent & Holy Week Services for 2010

All our parishioners, their extended families & their neighbors are encouraged to join with our parish community and with the Universal Church in celebrating the Paschal Mystery of Christ's Passion, Death and Resurrection. Here’s the schedule of special services here at Saint Elizabeth:

Wednesday (March 24): Lenten Communal Reconciliation Service with individual confessions at 7:00 PM, with a number of visiting confessors for the convenience of our parishioners and guests.

Saturday (March 27): Confessions, 9:00-11:00 AM, with several visiting priest-confessors.

Palm Sunday (March 27-28): regular weekend Mass schedule, with Saturday Vigil Mass at 5:30 PM and Mass on Sunday at 8:00, 9:30 and 11:30 AM. Palm will be blessed at the beginning of each Mass and distributed by the ushers and greeters.

Holy Thursday (April 1): Mass of the Lord’s Supper in church at 7:30 PM with Solemn Procession & Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in chapel between 9:00 PM and Midnight.

Good Friday (April 2): Celebration of the Lord’s Passion at 3:00 PM; Holy Communion is distributed only at this service.

Holy Saturday (April 3):

11:00 AM- Blessing of Easter Food in the social hall. The custom of blessing food for Easter arose from the traditional discipline of fasting throughout Lent and the Holy Week Triduum.

8:00 PM- Easter Vigil Mass with Sacramental Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Communion) and Reception into Full Communion with the Catholic Church for our RCIA members.

Easter Sunday (April 4): regular Sunday morning Mass schedule (8:00, 9:30 & 11:30 AM).

May your active participation in the liturgies of Holy Week enrich your faith, deepen your personal commitment to Jesus Christ, and motivate you to a more generous stewardship service to others, especially those in need among us!

Prayer: What does it mean to pray? How can I pray? What are traditional Catholic prayers? In this website you will find answers to these questions and other helpful resources to deepen your personal prayer life.

Parish Stewardship Prayer

Gracious and loving God, we know that it is from your hand that we receive all that we have and all that we are.

We believe that you call us to be the stewards of the gifts you have entrusted to us.

Help us to respond to your generosity, by our generosity to all in need; to respond to your forgiveness, by our willingness to forgive others.

Lord, help us always to place you at the center of our lives and keep us ever grateful for your constant love.

We ask this through Christ, our Lord.

Amen
