  • Our Mission:

The Family Life Ministry team is made up of volunteers from the parish community who serve in cooperation with the Pastor and the Parish Services Director to collaborate and evaluate new ideas from ministries in the Family Life area and from other parish ministries. We are committed to fostering Catholic values in family life and strengthening family relationships among parishioners at each stage of family life.

In order to carry out our mission and purpose, we commit ourselves to coordinate a variety of activities and programs intended to nourish and strengthen family life among all parishioners by:

    • Designing and implementing periodic faith formation programs based upon the Church’s marriage and family life teachings for adult and young parishioners.
    • Promoting family-oriented stewardship opportunities conducted by existing parish ministry groups through the course of the year.
    • Developing and coordinating Christian parenting formation programs for parents with young, teenage and young adult children.
    • Providing a parish-based Pre-Cana Program for engaged couples and a marriage enrichment program for married couples.
    • Developing and coordinating programs of pastoral outreach, by providing personal support, spiritual formation and professional resources for individuals and families facing difficulties such as separation and divorce, serious illness, grief or abuse.

What We Do - Some examples of the work that we do include:

    • Working with Youth and Sharing our Bounty to run the Martin Luther King Day of Service
    • Arranging for our annual Marriage blessing at 9:30 Mass around Valentine's Day
    • Organizing a Marriage Enrichment event for married couples
    • Helping other Family Life Ministry groups in any way they need help.

Current ministries and organizations that fall under the umbrella of the Family Life Ministry include:  Bereavement Ministry; Elizabeth Ministry; Family Enrichment Team; Pre-Cana Team; Pre-Jordan Team: Respect Life Team; and Senior Adult Ministry.

  • Our Mission:

To help engaged couples prepare for their pending celebration of the Sacrament of Marriage within the Catholic Church. The aim of the Pre-Cana sessions is to give couples an opportunity to take time out from the hectic wedding plans to focus on their relationship, the role of faith and church in their lives, the sacramental and spiritual nature of marriage and to learn from other Catholic couples about what it really means to be married.

    What We Do:

Pre-Cana is a Catholic tradition that teaches couples how to be married within the Catholic Church. This premarital course is named after the wedding feast at Cana and symbolizes Jesus' blessing and acceptance of marriage. Our program covers 5 critical topics that prepare the soon to be married couple for marriage in the Church. Attending a Church approved premarital course is a main requirement for getting married in the Catholic church in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.

The Pre-Cana team is comprised of parishioners (most of whom are married couples) who facilitate two (2) Pre-Cana programs per year for engaged couples. The Pre-Cana weekends are held on a Friday night and all day Saturday in late January and September. The goal is to deepen the engaged couple’s knowledge of the Catholic Church’s teaching on marriage, equipping them with the tools to develop and constantly grow in love and faith as they live out the sacrament of marriage.

The program is an evening and day filled with interactive talks, activities, quiet couple time, and plenty of food. There is also a Q & A with a panel of married couples and some time for questions and comments from the priests of the parish.

Members of the team like people and are comfortable sharing their story. Some members are excellent at making the atmosphere warm and welcoming by decorating or selecting the food that is shared. Others are good organizers and help the day and the transitions during the day go smoothly.

If you would like more information about the Pre-Cana Team and how to participate, please contact Matt Pfeiffenberger, 610-646-6550, This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Saint Elizabeth Parish has a sister parish relationship with Visitation Blessed Virgin Mother Parish, located in the Kensington section of Philadelphia.

    Our Mission:

To share experiences, activities and resources with the people of Visitation BVM in Kensington.

    What We Do:

Parishioners from both parishes are working together to plan reciprocal events for both communities to share. As Father Mullin, our pastor says, "the goal is to establish a truly mutual relationship that goes beyond annual coat drives because I think the parishioners of both Visitation BVM and St. Elizabeth have a lot to gain from a deeper, shared friendship.”  Over the years through various activites, we became adept at getting parishioners to interact and learn more about each other's churches and lives.

We invite you to share in all that we do together with our sister parish, Visitation BVM!

  • This committee is made up of a warm & friendly group of parishioners, who serve our parish community by cleaning and caring for the vessels and vestments used in the celebration of Mass and at other Liturgical events.

Members have stated it is an honor to clean the vessels that hold Jesus’ precious Body and Blood.

As well as helping out, it can be a time of socializing with other members of our church community.

The schedule is not time consuming. Every 6 weeks, we clean Vessels on Saturday morning following the 8:30 AM Mass. The next day, Sunday (after the 11:30 Mass), we pick up 3 or 4 Altar Server Albs and take them home for washing over the next 5 days. We return them the following Thursday.

If you have a busy schedule and are looking for a stewardship opportunity that does not require a large amount of time, the Vessels and Vestments Team would be happy to have you join us.
